Sunderland fans are absolutely butchering Lee Cattermole after the club wished the midfielder a happy birthday.
It’s probably a good thing Lee Cattermole doesn’t have Twitter, because fans have been mocking the midfielder today after the club posted a birthday message with a clip of one of his two league goals for the club.
Cattermole has had a torrid season for the Black Cats, and many fans have felt he’s been hiding from the action.
Now, in the most ill-advised social media move of the century, the official club Twitter account has welcomed hordes of abuse for the 30 year-old by wishing him a happy birthday.
In fairness, the tough tackling midfielder does have a reputation for picking up cards, and already has eight yellows and a red this season.
We don’t think he’ll be getting too many cards from fans this year though, and he is one of a number of players fans are desperate to axe from the squad.

How old is he? 95? That's how old he's looked whilst chasing Championship shadows all season!

That’s was 150 years ago when he was at least a championship player. Now he would not get a game for Seaham Red Star…
