Sunderland fans hoping they can bring back Leadbitter

Sunderland fans are desperate to bring Grant Leadbitter back to the club, after a report claimed a deal could be on the cards.

According to Roker Report, Sunderland are “very interested” in bringing Leadbitter back to the club this summer.

The 32 year-old was a fantastic servant during his time with the Black Cats, and has since racked up over 200 league appearances for Middlesbrough.

The tough tackling midfielder made 32 Championship appearances for the Riversiders last season, but the report claims Tony Pulis and Boro are open to selling him this summer.

With just 12 months left on his contract, the former fan favourite shouldn’t be particularly expensive, and fans would absolutely love to take him back.

The Englishman scored three times in the Championship last season, and averaged nearly two tackles per game while boasting an 83 per cent pass success rate.

Roker Report claim a deal is not close, as Stoke City are also interested, but his connection with the fans on Wearside could lure him back to the Stadium of Light.
