Sunderland have reportedly agreed a fee for Reading’s George Evans, and fans are looking forward to seeing the 23 year-old in action.
According to The Chronicle, the Black Cats are on the verge of yet another summer signing, having agreed a fee in the region of £1m with Reading for Evans.
The youngster will bring a little bit of everything to Jack Ross’s squad, as he is able to play in a variety of positions across midfield and defence.
He scored twice last season in 23 appearances, making his mark mostly as a defensive midfielder.
At 6ft 1in he can also play centre back too, which may be the case at the Stadium of Light, as the expected departures of Lamine Kone and Papy Djilobodji will leave Ross light of options at the back.
Evans is highly rated by Reading fans, and very adapt at breaking up play and getting stuck in, something fans will love on Wearside.
With a fee now agreed with The Royals, negotiations will start over personal terms, “but no problems are anticipated” say The Chronicle.

Did well in parts at Reading and very well at Walsall in this division. Ex Man City so got a decent pedigree. He’s also quite tall so would at least add a bit of a physical presence to the team.

Can’t quite believe Reading are letting George Evans join #safc after we saddled them with O’Shea!

That time of summer when we’re all becoming impatient and want us to sign players. We’ll have a much stronger squad if we pull off Wyke, Eisa and Evans. #SAFC
