Sunderland fans react to Allan Saint-Maximin joking at the Black Cats’ expense

The Tyne-Wear derby may have gone quiet on the pitch over the last couple of years but the war of words is still alive on social media, with many Mackems not reacting well to a dig from Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Magpies winger was responding to his inclusion in Alan Shearer’s Team of the Week when a Sunderland supporter called out his lack of goals and assists this season, to which the Frenchman couldn’t resist a cheeky dig.

Naturally, some supporters of the Black Cats do not appreciate his joke, and have responded with further criticisms of his performances.

Some have pointed out that more Sunderland players have scored against Premier League opposition than he has this term, and it is fair to say there is no love lost between the rivals despite not facing each other on the pitch since March 2016.
