Sunderland fans react to opening pre-season defeat

Sunderland fans have been sharing their thoughts on their team’s opening pre-season encounter, and plenty of fans are pretty upset with the result.

Sunderland fell 1-0 to Darlington on Tuesday night as Jack Ross kicked off his tenure at the Stadium of Light with a defeat.

Of course, the Black Cats have plenty of time between now and the start of the season, but the performance was slow and disjointed, and some of the new signings looked really poor.

Ross and new owner Stewart Donald have made plenty of waves in the transfer market, and there will likely be upwards of ten new faces on Wearside by the beginning of the season, but the defeat has killed some confidence amongst certain fans.

Alim Ozturk had a really poor showing in defence, as his mistake set up the game’s only goal.

Chris Maguire was the new signing that got off to a good start, just showing a few glimpses of what is to come, although not quite finding that final product.

Fans have been discussing the result, and while loads of fans aren’t worried at all about a pre-season defeat, others are annoyed to say the least, seeing the defeat as a major setback to the confidence of the team and the fans.
