According to reports in The Mirror, former Sunderland boss David Moyes is keen to bring defender Lamine Kone to new club West Ham United during the January transfer window, and Mackems fans are keen for the deal to happen.
The Mirror says that Moyes has been given the green light to strengthen the east London side – who lie 18th in the Premier League table – and he is keen on the 28-year-old despite the fact that the Wearside outfit are currently bottom of the Championship table.
While the Ivory Coast international was pivotal to helping the Black Cats survive in the 2015/16 campaign, he couldn’t prevent them suffering relegation last term and he is currently sidelined with a knee injury that could rule him out until 2018.
Sunderland supporters had their say on the rumour via social media, and it is clear that he isn’t a popular figure amoing the Stadium of Light faithful.
While one simply said “they can have him”, another said he would “pack his bags for him”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Paying money for Lamine Kone would be a stupid thing to do, making no sense whatsoever.
Expect Moyes to put a bid in. https://t.co/pVFELmryCx
