Sunderland are making a late run at the automatic promotion spots in League One as they have only lost one game since the turn of the year.
The Black Cats have won four in a row without conceding and now sit just three points from league leaders Rotherham United.
In fact, under Phil Parkinson, they have amassed 26 points from a possible 33, which is a phenomenal return and former striker Stephen Elliott believes he knows who the keys to their success are.
This man deserves big credit. Took loads of stick early doors but didn’t shy away from job at hand. Now has taken the club into a fantastic position going into the business end of season. Getting best out of Maguire and Gooch is proven to be catalyst in my opinion. 👏🏻 https://t.co/CvSuL3rXeW

The 36-year-old has singled out Chris Maguire and Lynden Gooch for praise, claiming that Parkinson has managed to get the best out of them.
Well, at the weekend, Sunderland defeated Bristol Rovers 3-0 and the 31-year-old picked up a hat-trick of assists whilst also recording four successful dribbles, eight key passes and won 90% of his duels, per SofaScore.
It would be an understatement to say that he wasn’t integral to clinching all three points. Maguire’s tally for the season now sits at 11 goals and 13 assists.
Gooch, on the other hand, has found the net ten times this campaign too.
Elliott isn’t far off being right based on their numbers, if they can keep this up, then you’d imagine the Black Cats will continue hurtling towards some sort of glory come May.
And in other news, Sunderland COLOSSUS eases their pain…
