Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that he expects Kalvin Phillips to attract interest from other Premier League clubs in the near future.

The 25-year-old midfielder has impressed in his debut Premier League campaign, earning significant praise from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher earlier this season, and is now a full England international after making his Three Lions debut last September.

Since then, £24.3m-rated Phillips has gone on to win more caps for his country, clearly winning the approval of manager Gareth Southgate, and Palmer believes such a rise will not go unnoticed.

"Listen, if you're playing well and you're playing for your country, they'll always be interest. That is for sure," the ex-Leeds player told FFC.

"Once you start playing for your country, you're playing well and you're playing for your club in the Premier League, of course, people are going to come and watch you and people are going to be interested in you. That's a fact," Palmer also added.

"Obviously, nowadays, with the riches that can be added to the Premier League, it's easy for these players to get their head turned."

Phillips has been a huge player for Marcelo Bielsa following his arrival at Elland Road back in June 2018.

Last season, the England international made 37 league appearances as the Whites won promotion to the Premier League, while the campaign prior, he featured in 44 Championship games (incl. play-offs), showing his value to his manager.
