Leeds United could be set to make their next January move, following the impending completion of the Georginio Rutter deal.

What’s the latest?

That's according to the Daily Mail (print edition, 12 January, page 72; via MOT Leeds News), who claim that Victor Orta remains keen on making Birmingham City teenager George Hall his next addition after signing the Frenchman.

The Whites have reportedly been finalising the details of Rutter's move over the last couple of days and clearly are not messing around in the transfer window.

Leeds are said to now be keen on the 18-year-old Blues talent as they look to bolster their midfield options having now done so upfront.

Leeds must sign Hall

Having added Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Brendan Aaronson to the Whites' ranks in the summer, it seemed like Jesse Marsch had crafted a fine midfield which could operate together for the foreseeable future.

The former two offer incredible defensive prowess, averaging four and 2.2 tackles per game respectively, whilst the latter has caught the eye with his immense work rate and willingness to set his team on the attack, making 1.7 key passes per match.

As such, it seems somewhat gratuitous to see the Whites linked with even more midfielders, as rumours of moves for Azzedine Ounahi and Seko Fofana continue to swirl.

Perhaps it would make more sense to opt for someone like Hall, who boasts high potential and is completely malleable. Therefore, Marsch could form the teenager in his image, all whilst avoiding the potential frustrations with regard to game-time that he might receive should he bring in a more established name.

Having only burst into the senior squad over the past 12 months, Hall already boasts 20 appearances for Birmingham's first team.

Although he might not yet be setting the world alight in the Championship, there is precedent to believe that he might soon be doing so.

This suggestion comes from his manager John Eustace, who praised the youngster's athleticism and dynamism in the midfield engine room; traits which are like gold dust for the Leeds manager, who is known to favour a high-pressing approach.

Eustace claimed: "George is a fantastic young player who's a big player for us and for the team... For me, George Hall is one of the top young players in the league. He's a very effective player whether he starts or we have him coming off the bench.

"He's only just turned 18 - and he's got an opportunity to showcase himself here. We don't want George Hall going anywhere."

Having clearly captured the imagination at St Andrew's, perhaps an early move to Elland Road could skyrocket Hall's development and add even more youthful exuberance alongside the seemingly inbound Rutter.
