January feels like quite a long time ago now after a few weeks without football.

The transfer window is a decent memory, but if you cast your minds back to the middle of winter, you’ll remember that Leeds United desperately needed a striker.

United had just lost Eddie Nketiah after he was recalled by Arsenal, and they were desperately scrambling for a replacement.

A number of names were touted with the likes of Andre Gray and Jarrod Bowen linked, but the Whites’ number one target was Che Adams.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t pry the striker away from Southampton despite making a hefty offer to the Saints that included an obligation to buy him for £20m if United were promoted.

Leeds were quite clearly desperate to land their man, but it seems as though they’ve had a lucky escape.

The last thing Leeds needed in January was a striker who can’t score, and Adams seems to be in that mould.

The xG table indicates that United have had trouble in finishing their chances, and Adams is in the midst of a real crisis having not scored a single goal all season.

Unfortunately, his overall performances haven’t been all that great either. He may have assisted two goals since the turn of the year, but a WhoScored rating of just 6.23 indicates that he isn’t doing all that much to contribute to the overall play.

We can’t say that Jean-Kevin Augustin is faring that much better after playing just 49 minutes since his arrival, but United fans shouldn’t be too hung up on the fact they’ve missed out on Adams.

The £10.8m-rated man certainly hasn’t done much to make Leeds regret failing to land him.

In other news, Leeds still need to replace this man.
