The heated season-long Championship title race is currently on hold with the world of football in lockdown, so why not take a look at how Leeds United may fair if their rival manager were in charge instead of Marcelo Bielsa?

West Brom have ran the Whites the full distance this campaign, well, they've actually held top spot more frequently, but it is now the west Yorkshiremen reigning supreme in the second tier.

Bielsa has steered his side seven points clear of the playoff zone, meaning they are surely one step away from ending a 16-year absence from the top-flight.

There are just nine games to go, so only a catastrophic collapse will deny them of that, and the same goes for the Baggies, too, who are merely a point behind their promotion rivals.

So, if roles were reversed and it was Slaven Bilic in charge at Elland Road, what would his side even look like?

How Leeds would look under Slaven Bilic

The Croatian chief has primarily ran a 4-2-3-1 system over the course of the season and despite changing a more fluid 4-3-3 in recent weeks, this is the formation we'll run with.

Bielsa, on the other hand, has his own niche yet complex look, which often appears to be a three-at-the-back at times - the famous '3-3-1-3' rather than a 4-1-4-1 is what he tends to select.

Given Kiko Casilla's suspension, it would only be fair to keep Illan Meslier in the net while in front of him the defence looks a tad different.

A flat back four means there are only two centre-back spots available, so loan star Ben White partners Gaetano Berardi, so Liam Cooper misses out mainly due to injury concerns and that somewhat mirrors Ahmed Hegazi's start to the term.

Bilic likes to operate one attacking full-back and one defensive-minded one and this would pay serious dividends for Leeds' squad. Barry Douglas at left-back would allow Luke Ayling to continue to be a threat up the pitch - he has scored four times this season.

Another suggestion could be playing Gjanni Alioski instead of the former Wolves man, but Ayling would need to act as a third centre-back at times.

There's no way Kalvin Phillips loses his place and he sits next to Mateusz Klich in their engine room just as Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore tend to do for Albion. Unfortunately, it means Stuart Dallas is resigned to the bench - a good option to have off there, mind.

Jack Harrison and Helder Costa continue their wing roles, just like they do under Bielsa, but that's in some part due to the lack of options whilst there's a major change upfront.

Bielsa's system demands a hardworking, powerful sort of player, one that can read the lines and cause mayhem. It's part of the reason why Hal Robson-Kanu has done phenomenal this term, scoring 12 goals in all competitions.

Therefore, Jean-Kevin Augustin would be handed the starting reins over Patrick Bamford as he very much seems to fit the mould of that profile - something fans may be delighted to see after slamming the 26-year-old as an imposter earlier this season.
