Leeds United may have only just brought in a striker in the shape of Jean-Kevin Augustin, but they’re already reportedly looking at another forward.

Indeed, reports in Turkey last week linked them with a move for Cyle Larin - the Besiktas striker currently on loan at Zulte Waregem.

Larin’s proposed move to Elland Road seemed rather silly earlier this week, they already have Patrick Bamford as their first-choice striker, and their option to buy Augustin becomes an obligation after promotion. With the Whites five points clear of third place with 11 games to go, that is a distinct possibility.

However, the Yorkshire club may soon have the option of signing Larin taken away from them.

Fanatik have now reported that Zulte Waregem are ready to exercise their option to buy clause for the striker.

The move would see Larin join the Belgian outfit for €2.5m (£2.13m), and that represents a very good deal for the European outfit, considering Leeds were apparently willing to pay £5m.

While Larin may not have been much use to Leeds if they had secured promotion, it would have been nice to have had the option to go in for him if they’d stayed in the Championship - especially with Augustin leaving for good.

The striker has scored seven times and assisted 10 strikes this season in the league, and that assist tally is higher than any United player has posted this term.

Given Marcelo Bielsa likes his players to work hard for each other, this would have been quite the asset to have. After all, racking up more assists than someone like Pablo Hernandez is no easy feat - he has just five this term.

Although it might not matter with United potentially on their way to the Premier League, if they end up staying in the second tier of English football, they could rue from missing out on someone with as many as 17 goal contributions this season.

That tally is already better than Patrick Bamford who has 14 involvements.

In other news, Leeds should be worried about one Bielsa trend after recent reports.
