We’re almost a month on from deadline day, and the Whites’ signings last month are proving to be unsuccessful acquisitions.

Indeed, Jean-Kevin Augustin has played just 49 minutes during his first month, while Ian Poveda is yet to make his debut, and that doesn’t look like coming anytime soon as he’s not even been making the bench recently.

Leeds may have made a few poor decisions last month, but they also dodged a massive bullet.

The Yorkshire club were linked with a move for Harold Moukoudi, but the centre-back ended up at another Championship club, joining Middlesbrough on loan on the final day of the window.

United got a chance to see what the Cameroonian has to offer on Wednesday as they came up against Boro, and he did very little to impress his former suitors.

The stats show the centre-back was wholly ineffective against the Whites.

Of course, defending against Leeds is never an easy task, they’re top of the xG table for a reason, and that’s because their build-up play is exceptional.

However, for any centre-back to make more fouls than tackles in a game is simply unacceptable, and to make things even worse he picked up a yellow card for his troubles.

Moukoudi seemed to be a bit of a defensive force over in France, averaging 2.5 tackles per game in Ligue 1 this term, but he seemed to struggle against Leeds which summed up his time in England so far. Via WhoScored's match ratings, he's only got over 6.2 in two of the five matches he's played.

On top of that, he didn’t block a single shot on Wednesday, and it’s not as if he didn’t get many opportunities to with United having eight shots on target.

United’s defence has been vital to their change in fortunes as of late, three 1-0 wins in a row has seen the Yorkshire club once again open up a gap between them and third-place, and that may not have happened if they took a punt on the Saint-Etienne man in January.

Victor Orta certainly dodged a bullet by not signing the 22-year-old last month.

In other news, Gareth Southgate has his eyes on the wrong Leeds player.
