Leeds United have been linked with a summer move for Sassuolo midfielder Hamed Junior Traore.

What's the news?

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Whites are in the mix to sign the 22-year-old, who is the brother of Manchester United's Amad Diallo, alongside Serie A champions AC Milan.

In 2015, Traore joined Empoli's under-17 squad from fellow Italian side Boca Barco. After making 110 appearances for their senior and youth teams, in which he scored 20 goals and delivered 14 assists, the Ivorian joined Sassuolo on an initial loan move in 2019 before signing on a permanent basis last summer.

With 100 appearances to his name for his current club, the youngster has found the net 18 times and delivered eight assists in the process.

To further highlight his attacking talent, in his 31 league appearances last season, the midfielder took 51 shots at goal, with 22 of those being on target. He also completed more dribbles (49) than any other player at Sassuolo, highlighting how much of a tricky customer he can be to come up against.

Marsch would love him

Labelled a "pure talent" by his former coach Roberto De Zerbi, Traore has also been described as a player who "evades pressure excellently and has superb close dribbling," according to Gen Z Scouts on Twitter.

Taking all this into account, it's clear to see that the £19.8m-rated starlet has an abundance of talent, which is presumably why he has caught the attention of Leeds and Milan.

It would also be safe to suggest that Jesse Marsch would love to have a young talent like Traore in his squad who he can help to develop and potentially grow into a top Premier League player at Elland Road.

With the Yorkshire club already bringing in three new players this summer who are in their early to mid-20s, adding the Sassuolo starlet to that list could be an exciting next step for Leeds.

While potentially joining the Italian champions could be a tempting prospect for the player, the possibility of making a name for himself in England with Leeds and starting a new chapter of his career may also be an exciting option for him.

Leeds should definitely do all they can to try and bring the 22-year-old to Elland Road this summer.
