Leeds United set for triple boost vs Newcastle

Leeds United will travel to Tyneside this afternoon for their clash with Newcastle United at St James’ Park and Jesse Marsch could be handed a huge boost.

What’s the latest?

The Leeds boss took to his pre-match press conference to hint at the inclusion of Tyler Adams, Jack Harrison and Crysencio Summerville.

Marsch told the media:

“Now we get Tyler Adams back, which we think will be a major boost for us. Hopefully Summerville and Harrison as well and then, we can look to push that game still physically in the way we want.”

Great news for Marsch

The return of Adams, Harrison and Summerville will be a massive boost for Marsch as the trio could terrify Eddie Howe and his team this afternoon.

Summerville’s return, in particular, could be a huge threat in front of goal upon his return as he is currently their second-highest-scoring player this season with four goals so far.

Harrison may not be a starting option for Marsch as Sam Greenwood delivered an assist against Manchester City and as a result, could be rewarded another opportunity in the starting eleven at St James’ Park, nevertheless, the 26-year-old’s return will give the Leeds boss some depth to work with in the forward line in their fixtures ahead.

Adams will surely slot straight back into the midfield three, as he has been a key component in the centre of the pitch for the West Yorkshire club since his arrival in the summer.

Over 13 Premier League appearances so far, the 23-year-old American has created on big chance and won 55% of his duels combined, as well as averaging 72.4 touches, 1.2 key passes, 1.2 interceptions and four tackles per game, proving that he is a huge presence in the heart of the team.

Leeds are currently 15th in the top flight just two points clear of the bottom three after 15 outings, however, a victory over Newcastle today would widen their gap with the relegation zone taking them as high as 13th.

Should Summerville start against Newcastle?

With that being said, the return of all three players is undoubtedly great news for Marsch, giving the American much more depth in his squad heading into 2023 and the manager will be hopeful they can each make a big impact on the team’s performances over the second half of the season.
