Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has dropped a behind-the-scenes update regarding Raphinha's current situation at the Yorkshire club.

What's the latest?

In a recent Twitter post from Phil Hay, the Leeds journalist shared what the manager had said about the Brazilian and his future, having been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer.

Hay said: "Raphinha trained with Leeds today. Marsch said the club still need to decide if he is going to Australia, with all the speculation surrounding him. Marsch plainly aware that Raphinha wants a certain move, and understands that."

In a recent article from The Athletic, the Leeds manager's comments were shared in full.

When asked whether or not Raphinha would travel to Australia with the rest of the squad for their preseason period, Marsch had this to say on the matter.

He said: "My guess is, I don't know. We just have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of days.

"There's urgency from his end, I think, to come up with a solution. We have to in the next couple of days see how things stand and see how we go.

"He showed up today and trained with everybody, he had such a good attitude. We had a very open and honest conversation about while he's here he's part of us, and then we'll see what happens. It's still a long way to go in the transfer window."

Leeds supporters will be gutted

The winger was an integral member of Marsch's squad last season as he led the way for goals scored (11) but he also had more shots at goal (85), racked up more shot-creating actions (119) and completed more successful dribbles (59) than any of his teammates, so this shows just how disappointing it would be for the club and the fans to see him leave this summer.

Despite the arrival of Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord this week, the Brazil international's potential departure would leave an almighty gap in Leeds' team, especially as there's no way of knowing whether the new signing can step up into the Premier League as well as Raphinha did.

Moving forward, if the 25-year-old is destined to make a move away from Leeds this summer, the best thing for all parties would be to see the situation get resolved as quickly as possible, mainly so the Whites can focus on getting prepared for their next season and potentially look to bring in a suitable replacement for him.

The longer this drags on, the more agitated the Elland Road faithful will get.
