It's fair to say that since Rodrigo arrived in a club-record deal from Valencia last summer, things just haven't worked out for the Leeds United forward.

The Spaniard endured a difficult debut campaign at Elland Road, completing the full 90 minutes just four times in the Premier League, while also missing a number of games either through injury or a viral infection.

After watching his horror showing against Manchester United on the opening day of the season last week, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa must surely axe him from the starting line-up for today's clash against Everton in the Premier League.

The £100k-a-week Rodrigo looked well off the pace in that attacking role in midfield, struggling to get on the ball and managing just 21 touches - to put that into context, goalkeeper Illan Meslier had almost three times as many with 58. The 30-year-old also had no shots on goal, provided no key passes or crosses, and looked completely anonymous, being substituted at half-time for Junior Firpo.

Writing in his player ratings, Leeds Live's Beren Cross gave him a four, saying: "Had next to no impact on the game with or without the ball. Really struggled with picking up the right men when the hosts had the ball. Hooked at the break."

It was no surprise that numerous Leeds fans on Twitter tore into the Spain international for his performance against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Rodrigo has simply been shocking for a long time now, and while he's had his flashes of brilliance - especially towards the end of last season when he netted four times in as many games - he just hasn't been anywhere near consistent enough for the Whites.

Bielsa has to drop him from the starting line-up against Everton today.

Meanwhile, Leeds are plotting a late swoop for this EFL ace...
