YouTuber Conor McGilligan has questioned the support for Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch and insisted he needs to improve.

What’s the word?

Up to this point in the season, it's been a mixed campaign for the Whites. Indeed, the Premier League form has seen them with just four times after 19 games.

As a result, they find themselves in the midst of a relegation battle at the midway point in the campaign. However, fans may well be happy to see their team enjoying a decent cup run as they moved beyond the fourth round this weekend with a win over Accrington Stanley.

Despite that, McGilligan has questioned Marsch's ability to get the best out of the team and claimed it was "staggering" how some supporters see him as blameless for the club's struggles.

Indeed, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he slammed the player's display and said (14:37): "There are good players at Leeds United. So if you can't sort out the defensive problems, if you're a manager who has a lot of tactical prowess, sort us out going forward. Make sure we're efficient going forward.

"Because it just seems like he's completely blameless for some fans on Marsch and I do not understand it. The credit that this guy's got from some Leeds fans is staggering to me. It's staggering.

"Listen, he needs to start getting results."

Clock ticking?

Seeing as this is the first time since 2015/16 Leeds have made it past the fourth round of the FA Cup, Marsch deserves some credit. However, he's not exactly transformed the team since arriving last season.

Indeed, under the American, the club have averaged just 1.19 points per game in all competitions. Before that, under Marcelo Bielsa, they picked up 1.61 although part of that was when playing in the Championship. Purely in the Premier League, the Argentine was at 1.28 per game, while the current boss manages 1.06.

While it feels a little too early to be calling for his sacking at this stage, if Marsch can't help the team improve over the coming weeks his job may come under pressure, especially as he has been backed in the transfer market

Indeed, not only Max Wober and Georginio Rutter have arrived for notable transfer fees, but Weston McKennie also looks set to be added to the club's ranks.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out over the coming months.
