Leeds United's move for Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi could drag on until the end of the transfer window, Pete O'Rourke has claimed.

What's the word?

The midfielder, who was a standout player for Morocco at the World Cup, has been coveted in this transfer window, with Barcelona among those linked with a move in recent weeks.

Now, it seems Leeds are one of the frontrunners for his signature, but striking a deal may not be easy, and with less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window, they will be sweating to get it over the line.

Speaking to Football FanCast, O'Rourke claimed that Angers may even want to keep him on loan for the rest of the season - something Leeds may not accept - and that it may be a nervous wait to get this deal done.

He said: "I think Angers, ideally, would like the player back on loan if he was to be sold this window, and I don't think that's what Leeds want to do.

"It's a difficult deal to do, but Leeds are still working on it as well, and this one's probably going to drag right on to the end of the window."

An important signing

We feel Leeds must ensure they get Ounahi over the line given their precarious position in the table, as they need all the quality they can get to fight relegation.

Even if they have to spend big on the 22-year-old, it could be argued that he will retain his value even if they do go down given his reputation from the World Cup, and he could become a gamechanger for Jesse Marsch's side, with Jose Mourinho describing Ounahi as "absolutely incredible" during the World Cup and he could form a young, dynamic midfield trio with Marc Roca and Tyler Adams if he joins.
