Leeds United: Journalist drops worrying summer transfer claim

Despite managing to bring Dan James to the club during the previous summer transfer window and secure a permanent deal for Jack Harrison, it seems as though the Leeds United could be set to say goodbye to one of their other key attacking players once the upcoming summer window opens.

What’s the talk?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Eurosport transfer insider Dean Jones had this to say about Raphinha and his future at the Yorkshire club after being substituted at halftime in their recent 3-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

He is currently the club-record signing...

He said: “He was highlighted and it was a tough day for Leeds all round. It’s pretty clear in my mind that Raphinha won’t be at Leeds next season anyway.”

Leeds signed the Brazilian back in October 2020 from French club Rennes in a deal worth a reported fee of £17m.

Since then, the attacker has gone on to make 53 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side across all competitions, racking up 14 goals and 11 assists in the process.

Not only did the 25-year-old end his debut season in England as Leeds’ highest-rated player according to WhoScored with an overall rating of 7.22 but he’s also currently listed as the Whites’ highest-rated player once again for his performances in the league this time around, showing how important he is to the side.

Fans will be sweating

Taking this into account, Jones’ claim will surely have a lot of Leeds fans sweating about Raphinha’s future at the club and it would definitely be a big blow for them if they were to lose the Brazil international this summer.

Having been linked with a move away from Leeds during the previous summer transfer period with fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United apparently interested in him, it seems likely that there would be a number of top clubs across Europe that would love to have the winger in their team.

Do you think Leeds will sell Raphinha in the summer?

No

With West Ham United reportedly making an approach to Leeds last month to sign the attacker from Elland Road, which was swiftly turned down, this proves that he is very much admired by Premier League clubs.

Moving forward, Leeds need to be doing all they can to make sure they don’t lose Raphinha in the summer given how crucial he is to their team.

This latest revelation will have many fans worried.
