Phil Hay has dropped an update on the current condition of Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas.

What's the latest?

In a recent post on Twitter, The Athletic's Leeds United correspondent revealed that, after sustaining an injury in a challenge with Manchester City's Jack Grealish on Sunday, the 31-year-old has suffered a femoral fracture which will require surgery in London.

Hay went on to state that the Northern Ireland international is due to spend a considerable length of time recovering from the injury, something which means the versatile right-back will be unavailable for selection for the remainder of the season.

In his tweet, the journalist said: "Leeds United confirm that Stuart Dallas suffered a femoral fracture - significant damage to his knee cap - during yesterday's game. Due to have surgery in London and faces 'a lengthy period out of action'."

Marsch will be fuming

Considering the sheer number of injuries Leeds have had to deal with this season, the news that Dallas now looks set for his own lengthy spell in the treatment room is sure to have left Jesse Marsch fuming.

Indeed, over his 34 Premier League appearances this season, the £3.6m-rated defender has further established his reputation as one of the Whites' most important players, making an average of 1.7 interceptions, 2.7 tackles, 31.4 passes, 1.6 clearances and winning 5.4 duels - at a success rate of 54% - per game.

The £53k-per-week dynamo has also chipped in in an attacking capacity, scoring one goal, registering one assist and creating five big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 0.9 shots, making 0.9 key passes and completing 0.9 dribbles per fixture.

These returns have seen the player who Hay dubbed "absolutely integral at Leeds" average a SofaScore match rating of 6.90, ranking him as Marsch's fourth-best player in the league.

As such, the fact that Dallas has now been ruled out for the rest of the season will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to the Whites' hopes for Premier League survival - with 18th placed Everton's 1-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday seeing the Toffees move to within two points of Leeds, and Frank Lampard's side boasting the advantage of a game in hand.
