Leeds United have been dealt an injury concern regarding central midfielder Tyler Adams.

What's the latest?

That's according to a recent report by Leeds Live, who revealed that Adams' absence from first-team training on Tuesday was down to a knock picked up on international duty with the USMNT at the Qatar World Cup, with 23-year-old struggling with an injury to his calf.

Regarding his current condition, the summer signing said: "I just had a little bit of a knock in the last game against the Netherlands, just in my calf. Just coming back from that a little bit, but not bothering me anymore. I feel good, feel sharp. I would be training, but Jesse's saying take all the time you need if you can right now it's an opportunity."

Marsch will be sweating

While Adams' knock does not appear to be overly serious, in addition to the fact that the midfielder is unavailable for selection for the Whites' return to Premier League action against Manchester City on Boxing Day due to suspension, considering just how impressive the American has been this season, Jesse Marsch will certainly be sweating over the fitness of the 23-year-old.

Indeed, over his 13 Premier League appearances in the current campaign, the £34m-rated talent has been one of Leeds' standout performers, having created one big chance, as well as making an average of 1.2 key passes, 4.0 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 1.8 long balls and winning 5.8 duels - at a success rate of 55% - per game.

These returns have seen the £57k-per-week engine average an extremely impressive Sofascore match rating of 6.92, currently ranking him as Marsch's fifth-best performer in the top flight of English football - a quite remarkable feat considering he only joined the club this summer.

Furthermore, Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton has clearly been impressed with Adams' transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, with the journalist stating in an interview with GIVEMESPORT back in September:

"He's done really, really well. He knows his game. When he came in, he said 'I'm not going to be the man to replace Kalvin Phillips, I'm my own man.' There are similarities in the way he plays with Phillips, in the way that he breaks play up and screens the defence. But he's also very different in a lot of ways. So he's done brilliantly."

As such, while it would appear likely that Adams will be fit to feature against Newcastle United on New Year's Eve, considering just how important a part of the Whites side the midfielder has quickly become, Marsch will undoubtedly be praying for the 23-year-old to fully get over his calf injury without any setbacks over the coming days and weeks.
