Leeds United have been in a troublesome situation with senior midfielder Adam Forshaw for some time now. The 29-year-old hasn't played a game in a white jersey for more than a year, as he is currently recovering from a hip injury which he picked up last September.

Forshaw contributed just one assist in his seven Championship appearances to Leeds' promotion-winning season. The Whites were successful in his absence and are making strides in their Premier League returning campaign without him too.

Andrea Radrizzani simply cannot justify keeping the Merseyside-born midfield man on his books for much longer. Forshaw has been earning his £60,000 per week contract despite being a stranger to the team for well over 12 months. The forgotten Englishman is earning more than the likes of Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich, who have played integral roles in the club's last two seasons (via sportekz.com).

As it stands, Forshaw's current deal is set to expire in 2022 but if Leeds wait much longer, they risk getting barely anything through a transfer. Transfermarkt currently values the playmaker at £2.8million, which will see Radrizzani take a loss if he is to be sold for that amount.

Leeds initially signed Forshaw in 2018 for a fee of £4.5million. In his 52 appearances for the Whites before his injury, he managed to contribute just two assists, which is far from enough of an argument to justify keeping him for much longer.

The club must make a cut-throat decision and look to offload Forshaw once he is back to full fitness or risk seeing their money pot rinsed even further.
