Leeds United enjoyed an impressive summer transfer window, with Victor Orta adding a total of nine fresh faces to Jesse Marsch's first-team squad, while the Spanish director of football also managed to move a great deal of the Whites' deadwood onto pastures new.

One such player was Tyler Roberts - the attacking midfielder who joined Leeds from West Bromwich Albion in a £2.5m deal back in January of 2018 - who sealed a loan-to-buy switch to Queens Park Rangers, with the Championship side holding a £4.5m option to purchase the Wales international at the end of the current campaign.

And, despite showing flashes of talent over his four-and-a-half-year stay at Elland Road, should QPR go on to activate this option to buy clause next summer, it would very much appear as if Orta has sealed something of a masterclass for the Whites.

Indeed, following Leeds' promotion to the Premier League in 2020, the £4.5m-rated talent struggled to adapt to the pace of top-flight football, scoring just two goals and registering three assists over his 50 league appearances in the club's 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns.

These returns, coupled with his general level of output, saw the £22k-per-week forward average disappointing SofaScore match ratings of 6.76 in 20/21 and 6.74 in 21/22 - ranking him as the Whites' eighth-worst and 12th-best performer in each respective campaign.

And, following his move to Loftus Road this summer, things have not exactly improved for the player who Gabriel Agbonlahor dubbed "shocking" last September, with Roberts having failed to score, provide an assist or create a single big chance over his seven Championship appearances so far this season.

These metrics have seen the 19-cap international once again average a well below-par SofaScore match rating of just 6.74, ranking him as Michael Beale's 12th-worst performer in the second tier of English football.

As such, it is clear for all to see that Roberts is simply not of the standard required for a team who are hoping to push for a top-half finish in the Premier League this season, leading us to believe that, should QPR go on to cough up £4.5m for the Welshman - £2m more than the Whites paid for his services - Orta will indeed have sealed a real masterclass for the Whites.
