Leeds United have been handed a big boost ahead of their return to Premier League action this evening...

What's the latest?

Marcelo Bielsa's side travel to Anfield to face Liverpool, who are chasing down table-toppers Manchester City in second place, and the home side will be without one of their most lethal attackers.

The Yorkshire outfit were beaten in a six-goal thriller by Manchester United on Sunday, another game in which they leaked goals for fun but there is some encouragement ahead of kick-off in Merseyside tonight.

As confirmed by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, they will be without the services of Diogo Jota for today's encounter.

"No for tomorrow, no chance. For the final, we will see. I really don't know in the moment. It would be easy to now say no but we will see. They are pushing but they were not on the pitch for training so that is not a good sign," he said (via the ECHO).

"We have to see what we can do with the boys in the next few days and then we make a decision later in the week. I would love to have Bobby and Diogo available. That will not happen for tomorrow night. It is like it is."

Boost for Bielsa

This will come as a huge boost to Bielsa and the Whites squad as the absence of Jota makes Liverpool a much weaker prospect and considering the way in which Leeds have leaked goals for fun, it'll bolster their chances of conceding as many as they did against City (seven) or United (four).

Over the past nine league outings, the Elland Road natives have let in a whopping 28 goals (56% of their season total of 50), which is an average of 3.1 goals conceded per game.

That sort of form is surely amongst the worst in the division and is certainly cause for concern and heavy defeats in this manner will only pull the Yorkshiremen ever so much closer to a relegation dogfight.

Indeed, Leeds are just five points ahead of 17th-placed Watford in the standings and only one team in the whole division has leaked more goals in rock-bottom Norwich City (53).

A frontline of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Jota is a frightening prospect, so to have at least one of three missing is great news for Bielsa and his leaky backline.

The Portugal international has 17 goals in 32 games across all competitions this term with 12 of them being in the Premier League, which leaves him as the competition's second-highest top-scorer, behind only Salah.

He would be in line to only add to that number if he were available to play at Anfield this evening, so the Leeds boss is surely relieved if not absolutely buzzing.

AND in other news, Bielsa must unleash Leeds' "unbelievable" 6ft 3 "leader" today, could be game-changing...
