Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Fulham’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa would be a good addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
While there is not too much actual noise about Leeds moving for Anguissa this summer, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has mooted the idea, an idea that Palmer is on board with.
The 25-year-old was signed for big money from Marseille back in 2018 and has been a mainstay in Scott Parker’s midfield this season, so getting him out of Craven Cottage may be a difficult task, especially if Fulham manage to avoid the drop.
In response to Hay’s suggestion, Palmer told FFC:
“I think he could play the Leeds style because Bielsa has a very distinctive style that he plays, and the one thing you’ve got to do is be mobile. You’ve got to be able to get around the football pitch and he can do that.
“It’ll be interesting to see because I don’t think, obviously unless the player wants to leave, financially, I don’t think Fulham will need to let any of the players go should they get relegated.”
Should Leeds decide to target Anguissa this summer and bring the Cameroon international to Elland Road, then he could line up alongside Kalvin Phillips in the middle of the park.
Much like the last two seasons, the 25-year-old has had a huge role under Bielsa this term and you would expect that to continue regardless of the Yorkshire club’s transfer activity in the next window.
