Leeds United continue to be linked with midfield reinforcements despite their summer overhaul in that position, as Tyler Adams and Marc Roca were recruited.

However, it seems that Jesse Marsch is still not satisfied with the club's replacements for Kalvin Phillips.

The American will likely only be content when he has moulded his own successor, which could explain his pursuit of 18-year-old George Hall.

With Leeds seemingly set to secure the Birmingham City starlet, perhaps he could be the heir to the Whites' former midfield maestro.

Before his move to Manchester City, the 27-year-old was imperative for how Leeds functioned. It was no surprise that they have suffered in his absence, with Marsch arguably saving them from relegation last season.

During their return campaign to the Premier League in 2020/21, Phillips averaged a 7.21 rating as he recorded an 85% pass accuracy alongside 1.2 key passes and 2.6 tackles per game (via Sofascore).

He would have monumental shoes to fill, but with Hall having made 20 senior appearances for Birmingham, he already boasts experience far beyond his years.

In what has been his breakout campaign, he has been solid if unspectacular as he acclimatises to first-team football in such a combative league.

Despite only recording a 6.54 average rating from Sofascore, there are many reasons why he is so coveted.

Martin Olorenshaw, who was his coach at under 18s level, looked to shed some light as to why, saying of Hall: “He is explosive, dynamic and has the prowess to influence games. He is a really exciting player that has the ceiling to achieve whatever he wants to achieve.”

Still very raw, there is plenty of work to be done on this teenage gem, who is certainly one for the future. His record of 0.5 tackles and just 0.2 key passes per game might suggest that he is somewhat unsure of his role at the moment, but a move to Elland Road could help him to develop in that regard.

The coaching staff at Leeds know exactly what is needed to breed a true midfield star, having done so with Phillips, and they could repeat that success with another all-action youngster who is brimming with talent.
