An update has emerged on Leeds United and their interest in signing Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk ahead of the January transfer window...

What's the talk?

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that the Whites have been keeping tabs on the attacker over the last two weeks whilst he represented his country.

He told GIVEMESPORT:

"This would be a really exciting signing for somebody like Leeds, they’re definitely scouting him closely during the international break.”

Shakhtar Donetsk reportedly value him at around €50m (£44m) and it remains to be seen whether or not Victor Orta is willing to match that to bring the winger to Elland Road in January.

Imagine him and Luis Sinisterra

Leeds could form an exciting wing duo by signing Mudryk to pair him with Sinisterra out wide in the Premier League during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Orta brought the Colombian dynamo in during the summer and he has scored two goals in two top-flight starts so far this season, after producing 12 goals and seven assists in 29 Eredivise starts for Feyenoord last term.

The 23-year-old is a talented attacker who has shown that he has the quality to be a match-winner with his end product at the top end of the pitch.

In Mudryk, Leeds could find another wide player with the requisite ability to make a big splash in the final third for Jesse Marsch's team.

The Athletic's Jack Collins recently lauded the young winger, tweeting:

"Mykhaylo Mudryk is absolutely unreal. A goal and two assists, sure, but his explosiveness in small bursts is almost undefendable and his ability to keep the ball tethered to his foot, even at full speed, is Bernardo-esque. He’s going to be a star."

Journalist Sam Tighe replied to his tweet and dubbed the attacker a "Grealish regen", which is particularly high praise given the Englishman's £100m transfer to Manchester City last year.

Mudryk has played two matches in the Champions League this season and chipped in with an eye-catching two goals and two assists for Donetsk, after managing two goals and seven assists in 11 domestic league games last term.

The 21-year-old, who has been capped eight times by his country, has racked up four goals and 12 assists in 31 first-team games for his club to date.

He has shown glimpses of the quality he can provide from out wide and this is why he could form a frightening partnership with Sinisterra on the wings for Leeds. Both players have shown promise in terms of their goal contributions at the top level and they could terrorise opposition defences in 2023.
