A lot of talk has surrounded Leeds United’s summer signing Raphinha as he continues to make a name for himself in the Premier League. The Brazilian joined the Whites on a £60,000 per week contract from Rennes, penning a four-year deal with the newly-promoted top-flight side.
He has already established himself as a regular in Marcelo Bielsa’s team, featuring in every single Premier League match so far, other than the Leicester clash that he missed due to injury, via Transfermarkt.
This already speaks volumes about the impact he has on the team and how he performs on the training pitch. The proof is also in the pudding with his performances this season as he’s racked up four goals and five assists for the first team so far. Indeed, it’s his influential displays from out wide that have gathered an audience.
Several clubs, including Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United, have shown their interest in Raphinha’s services. These clubs can certainly afford to pay for a player like the 24-year-old, so transfer fees shouldn’t be a problem for them. This creates a worrying situation for Leeds.
Whilst the Whites aren’t in any trouble in terms of risking relegation, any player would relish the opportunity to play for a title-challenging side. Liverpool and Man United both also have the lure of potential Champions League football, which isn’t something Leeds are in a position to offer right now.
Looking back at Raphinha’s previous clubs, he spent just one year with Sporting CP before joining Rennes, and then he had another short one year spell with the French side before his summer move to Elland Road, showing that he’s a man who is willing to move on in order to progress his career.
Teammate Tyler Roberts has already given his thoughts on Raphinha, praising his ability as a player and admitting he thinks he is “worth a lot of money”. He went on to say how “lucky” Leeds are to have him.
The winger clearly isn’t impartial to a quick move, so if an offer is tabled for his services, Leeds could have their work cut out to keep him.
