Leeds United: Marsch can form scary duo with Mohamed Camara transfer

Leeds United have already been rather busy in the summer transfer window in terms of the new players that they have secured deals for.

The past few weeks have seen the Whites sign the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

Another player that has made their way to Elland Road recently is Marc Roca.

Signed from Bayern Munich in a four-year deal worth a reported fee of £10m, the midfielder is Leeds’ third signing of the summer.

In 15 Bundesliga appearances for his previous side last season, the Spaniard won 11 tackles and made 141 pressures, 11 blocks, nine interceptions and five clearances, highlighting his defensive talent.

With there still being some time left before the window shuts and it looking likely that Kalvin Phillips will be joining Manchester City, the Whites could still look to bring another midfielder in before their next season starts.

One figure that the club have been linked with that could give Jesse Marsch the chance to form a scary duo alongside Roca with his Red Bull Salzburg’s £24.3m-rated midfielder, Mohamed Camara.

In 53 league appearances for the Austrian club, the midfielder has made 71 interceptions and won 89 tackles, showing that he can be a tough opponent to face in terms of winning the ball back for his side.

Described as being “on KP’s level” by Conor McGilligan, Camara also had his distribution on the pitch labelled as “underrated” by the Leeds podcaster, which suggests that he is just as useful with the ball as he is without it.

In fact, the 22-year-old ended his previous campaign with a higher passing accuracy percentage (86.8%) in the Champions League than any other Salzburg player to start at least one game in the competition.

What month did Marcelo Bielsa's tenure come to an unfortunate end?

Taking all of this into account, if Phillips were to wave goodbye to Elland Road this summer, securing a deal for the Salzburg star could be the ideal way for Marsch to get him playing alongside Roca.

This sort of partnership in midfield could be just what Leeds need to make them a tough side to play against, especially after they conceded 79 goals in the Premier League last season.
