YouTuber Conor McGilligan has claimed that Leeds United should avoid signing Noa Lang in the January transfer window as they don't need another winger.

What’s the latest?

The Whites have been linked with the Club Brugge star in recent times and transfer insider Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport that Jesse Marsch's side may now 'try to accelerate' a deal for the player.

However, it seems as though not all fans would be so keen on seeing another attacking player added to the Leeds United ranks this winter with McGilligan warning that they already have enough wingers.

While speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he said (2:11): “Do I think it makes sense? No. I think Noa Lang is clearly a very talented player. For me, it's not what we need right now, another winger.

“It will be very Leeds to add another winger we saw that with Dan James when we didn't want one – we didn't need one I should say.”

Wrong piece for the attacking puzzle

Lang certainly seems to be an exciting talent. After all, he has five goals and three assists in all competitions this term for his club side – and had 24 direct goal contributions last season.

To be fair to the YouTuber, however, he has played most of those games as a winger or as a second striker. At the moment, Leeds have the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, Joe Gelhardt and Rodrigo who can play those roles.

Really, if they want to sign an attacker this winter, it may make more sense to sign a direct central striker replacement for Patrick Bamford who has struggled with fitness issues throughout the current campaign.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how this one develops. However, they don't want to end up with another Dan James  – who scored four goals in 40 for the club after a £25m transfer – on their hands.
