Leeds United can land their own Coutinho with Hamed Junior Traore transfer

Leeds United found it difficult to score goals at times during their latest Premier League campaign.

In fact, not including the three relegated clubs, only Wolves (38) ended the campaign with fewer goals scored than the Whites (42).

Now that the Yorkshire club have put 2021/22 behind them, Jesse Marsch can focus on taking on the upcoming campaign in top division and hopefully making it a much more enjoyable one for their fans.

With the summer transfer window now open, one figure that the Whites have been linked with recently that could help the team be a more dynamic attacking side is Hamed Junior Traore.

After scoring 20 goals and delivering 14 assists in 110 appearances for his previous club FC Empoli across their senior and youth teams, the 22-year-old joined his current side Sassuolo last summer after an initial loan spell.

Overall, the Ivorian has found the net 18 times and supplied eight assists in 100 matches for Alessio Dionisi’s side.

His debut season as a permanent Sassuolo player saw the £16k-per-week starlet score seven goals and provide four assists in 31 Serie A games.

This backs up why football talent scout Jacek Kulig described the youngster’s campaign as “magnificent” on Twitter.

With all of this in mind, it’s easy to see why former Liverpool and Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho has been included on a list of similar players to the Sassuolo talent according to FootballTransfers.

What month did Marcelo Bielsa's tenure come to an unfortunate end?

Bearing in mind how the Brazilian has 104 goals and 77 assists to his name in 444 club appearances, as well as costing Barcelona a whopping £142m to sign him back in 2018, the prospect of having their own version of Coutinho at Leeds in the form of Traore should be a very exciting one for Marsch and the Yorkshire club.

Given the ability he has shown during his time in Italy in terms of being able to score and create goals for his side, he could be just what Leeds need to make sure they have enough firepower to overcome their opponents next term.

Moving forward, should an opportunity to bring the young Ivorian, who is the brother of Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo, to Elland Road this summer, Victor Orta should be all over it.

AND in other news: Talks underway: Orta now closing in on “massive” £34m Leeds target, it’d be a big coup
