Leeds United are expected to retain their interest in Harrison Ashby heading into the January transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to Alan Nixon, with the journalist revealing in a recent report for The Sun that, despite Victor Orta missing out on a late £2.5m deal to bring the West Ham United right-back to Elland Road in the summer market, the Whites are expected to once again make a move for the 20-year-old in the winter window.

However, Nixon went on to state that, after the Hammers were initially thought to be open to the Scotland U21 international's departure, David Moyes and his side are now hoping to tie the full-back down to new terms - with the defender's current deal at the London Stadium set to expire in a little under 12 months' time.

Orta's next Perkins

Considering just how exciting a prospect Ashby appears to be, it is not difficult to understand why Orta was interested in a move for the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window, nor is it hard to see why the Spanish director of football is reported to retain this interest heading into the winter market - which opens in a little over four months' time.

Indeed, the £270k-rated talent caught the eye over his three outings in the EFL Trophy, bagging a further goal and registering one assist in the competition.

This form led to the player who The Athletic's Roshane Thomas dubbed "one to watch" earn no less than 10 call-ups to Moyes' senior squad in 2021/22, with the defender making both his Premier League and Europa League debuts last time out.

As such, with the Scottish youth international - who has also scored one goal over his three outings for his county's U21 side - quite clearly being an exciting, forward-thinking and attack-minded full-back, as well as one who has proven he is ready for the rigours of both top flight and European football, it is indeed easy to see why Orta remains keen on a deal to bring the defender to LS11 further down the line.

And, with the Whites' director of football having already stolen the "incredible" - in the words of Harry Brooks - Sonny Perkins away from West Ham this summer, and the 18-year-old centre-forward having already made a big impact on the Whites' U21 side - scoring five goals in four Premier League 2 fixtures this season - Ashby could well prove to be the Spaniard's next incredible find from the Hammers' academy.
