Leeds United are interested in a move to bring Hwang Hee-chan to Elland Road over the remainder of the summer transfer window.

In recent comments cited by Phil Hay on Twitter, Jesse Marsch revealed that, following a number of reports linking the Whites with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers forward this summer, the 26-year-old is indeed a player on his transfer wishlist heading into the final hours of the market.
In Hay's tweet, the journalist said: "On Hwang Hee-chan links: 'I know him very well, I like him, he knows our football. He's on our list, I can tell you that'."
Following Marsch's remarks, Alan Nixon revealed in a post on his Patreon that Leeds would be willing to pay up to £18m in order to land the South Korea international prior to Thursday's transfer deadline, although this would appear to fall some way short of Wolves' reported £25m valuation of the attacker.
However, a recent update on Twitter from The Athletic's David Ornstein revealed that Leeds have now seen an informal £17m proposal for the winger knocked back, as Wolves were not believed to be content with the payment structure of the Whites' proposal.
Dream Rodrigo replacement
While it is true that, following Hwang's arrival at Molineux on a season-long loan deal last summer - a move that Wolves made a £14m permanent switch in January - the forward somewhat struggled to find a consistent vein of goalscoring form - bagging five goals over 30 Premier League appearances last season - the 26-year-old's previous returns under Marsch make it easy to see why the American manager would be keen to bring the attacker to Elland Road in the coming days.

Indeed, over his 27 Austrian Bundesliga fixtures for Marsch's Red Bull Salzburg side back in 2019/20, the £14.4m-rated talent was in astonishing form, bagging 11 goals, providing 13 assists and creating 15 big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.7 shots, making 1.6 key passes and completing 1.2 dribbles per game.
These returns saw the £19k-per-week forward who Erling Haaland dubbed "crazy" average a simply sensational SofaScore match rating of 7.29, not only ranking him as his Salzburg's joint sixth-best player in the league but also as the joint seventh-best performer in the Austrian top flight as a whole that season.
However, it was not only this campaign in which Hwang proved himself as one of the American's most valuable assets, as the Korean scored a total of 16 goals and provided 24 assists over his 43 outings under the 48-year-old manager - averaging a direct goal contribution every 66 minutes of football played under Marsch in Austria.
As such, should Marsch believe that he can help Hwang refind this level of form at Elland Road, not only would the Wolves forward - who can also operate from attacking midfield and up top - help to add both goals and creativity to the Whites' attack, but he would also appear to make an exceptional replacement for Rodrigo in the Whites first team squad - with the Spain international suffering a dislocated shoulder in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Tuesday night.
