Leeds United are set to offer Jack Harrison a significant pay rise in order to fend off interest in his services.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Football Insider, who claim that Victor Orta is ready to offer the 25-year-old a "huge" new contract in a bid to convince the winger to stay at Elland Road amid the reported interest of Newcastle United.

The report goes on to state that the Whites' latest proposal to the former England U21 international could see his current wage doubled, with the director of football's new offer to the forward said to be in excess of £80k-per-week.

Worth every penny

Considering just how important a player Harrison has become under the management of Jesse Marsch this season, the argument that the winger would be well worth an £80k-per-week deal is an extremely easy one to make.

Indeed, over his eight Premier League appearances in 2022/23, the £17.5m-rated forward has been in sensational form, having already scored one goal, registered three assists and created four big chances for his teammates, in addition to making an average of 2.4 key passes - the joint seventh-most in the league - taking 0.8 shots and completing 2.0 dribbles - the joint fifth-most in the division - per game.

Furthermore, Harrison's 19 chances created so far this term ranks him by far and away as Leeds' most creative player, with Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams joint second in the Whites squad on ten each.

These returns have seen the £15k-per-week talent who Hunter Godson dubbed "unbelievable" average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.06, ranking him as the Whites' second-best performer in the top flight so far this season.

As such, while a wage of £80k-per-week would make the former Manchester City starlet by far and away as the club's top earner, considering his exceptional returns so far in 2022/23, it is clear for all to see that the 25-year-old would be worth every penny for Orta and the Whites.

However, with the mega-rich Newcastle reported to be extremely keen on a move for the £60m valued winger, whether or not Leeds' latest offer to Harrison will be enough to convince him to remain at Elland Road remains to be seen.
