Alfonso Leocadio has dropped an update on the future of reported Leeds United transfer target Tyler Adams.

What's the latest?

In a recent post on Twitter, the Portuguese transfer insider revealed that, following a number of reports linking the Whites with a move for the RB Leipzig midfielder this summer, there is now a huge possibility that Victor Orta will go on to seal a deal for the 23-year-old - with a loan move appearing most likely at present.

This would appear to back up Phil Hay's recent report for The Athletic in which the journalist suggested that, following Leipzig's signing of Wolfsburg midfielder Xaver Schlager, they would be willing to sanction the temporary departure of the USA international ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

In his tweet, Leocadio said: "Tyler Adams [is a] huge possibility. Confirmed. As reported, would be a loan."

Marsch will be buzzing

Considering just how well-suited Adams appears to be for Jesse Marsch's preferred 4-2-2-2 setup, Leocadio's suggestion that a deal to bring the 19-cap international to Elland Road this summer is now a very real possibility is sure to have left the Leeds manager buzzing.

Indeed, despite starting just 12 Bundesliga games last season, the €40m (£34m) Adams still returned impressive numbers in a number of important metrics.

FBref ranked the 23-year-old in the top 2% of midfielders in Europe's big five leagues and European competitions for blocks per 90 mins, as well as the top 18% for passes attempted, the top 25% for passes completed, the top 20% for pressures and the top 25% for progressive carries over the last 365 days.

Furthermore, with the former New York Red Bulls holding midfielder also capable of operating from a number of different positions - including left, central and right midfield, as well as full-back - this will undoubtedly represent a huge plus for Marsch.

As such, considering that there will soon be a Kalvin Phillips-shaped hole which will need filling in the Whites' midfield ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, the news that Adams looks available to sign this summer is certainly fantastic for everyone involved with the club - not least Marsch himself.
