Leeds United could finally clinch a player that Marcelo Bielsa has been chasing for over two seasons now if emerging reports are to be believed...

What's the word?

According to Football Insider, the Yorkshire giants have given the green light to secure Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn on loan this transfer window as their Premier League rivals appear to be willing to listen to offers for him.

Bielsa wanted to sign the 24-year-old prior to his £13.5m move to the south coast in the summer of 2018 and has kept tabs on his progress ever since.

He's a name that the reliable Phil Hay was told about back in July, so perhaps there is legs in this move despite Illan Meslier being the new number one.

Casilla successor?

Gunn hasn't been seen in the Premier League since he suffered a 9-0 drubbing by Leicester City last season with Alex McCarthy taking the reigns once again.

With there so much uncertainty surrounding Kiko Casilla, Leeds could look to get in the young Englishman as a potential long-term replacement for the controversial 33-year-old.

Hay believes there's a chance he does depart Elland Road this summer so a successor would certainly need to be on the agenda before the October 5th deadline.

The 6 foot 5 colossus once received a glowing endorsement from ex-Saints boss Mark Hughes, who said: "Angus is a player who clearly possesses a tremendous amount of potential, but his performances for Norwich and for the England Under-21 team also demonstrate the capabilities he already has right now. We believe he has all the credentials to become a full international goalkeeper for England in the future."

A chance for a fresh start in Yorkshire could be a positive for all parties involved as it's not known how badly of an effect that Foxes defeat and the subsequent dropping has had but he needs regular game time if he's to fulfil that potential.

Gunn is on around £4ok-per-week at St Mary's, which isn't much of a financial gamble for Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani to take here. Casilla is sitting on the bench on a similar package.
