Whilst Leeds United will not be making any additional signings before the season-opener on Saturday, work is still being done behind the scenes and a familiar name could well resurface in west Yorkshire...

What's the word?

According to The Athletic's Phil Hay, Marcelo Bielsa is still a keen admirer of Daniel James despite his move to Manchester United last summer.

The ever-reliable Whites reporter relayed the news to fans via their app on Wednesday, he said:

"Leeds United not expecting any more signings before the first game at the weekend but the club's business isn't done. Interest in [Rodrigo] De Paul and [Josko] Gvardiol remains, although nothing agreed there.

"Keeping options open with wingers too and haven't yet gone back in for Ryan Kent. Bielsa is still a firm admirer of Dan James at Man Utd."

The 22-year-old infamously very nearly joined Leeds six months earlier before the deal was pulled by Swansea City at the last minute.

Second time lucky?

It remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would let the Welsh international depart on loan - or even permanently - but coincidentally, he's one appearance away from triggering a £1m clause in his contract.

Next time he plays, the Swans will rake in that bonus.

The young winger has hardly set the ground alight at Old Trafford since the move having scored just three times in 33 appearances last season, although he'd certainly be an interesting option to compete with Helder Costa on the right flank.

He's described as a player who has "exhilarating pace" with "an eye for goal" by FootballBH and even though he's yet to replicate that, he's still very young.

After his last move to Leeds fell through, Victor Orta revealed that he was deemed someone who "could fit our style" and with Bielsa still at the helm, nothing much has changed during that time.

Now valued at just over £17m by Transfermarkt, could it be second time lucky for the Yorkshire giants? If United clinch Jadon Sancho, then his game time could be sparse and with the Whites back in the PL, it could be a win-win all-round.
