Leeds United retain an interest in signing Adama Traore...

What's the word?

That's according to 90min, who claim that the Yorkshire outfit are one of many sides in the running to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers ace on a free transfer.

They face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who just like the Whites, have held a long-term interest in the Spaniard. Marcelo Bielsa was regularly mooted with interest in him during his time at Elland Road.

However, foreign teams like Napoli, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are able to pip English clubs to his signature from January 1st as they can tie him to a pre-contract agreement due to his £55k-per-week deal expiring in the Midlands.

Dan James 2.0

The 26-year-old whiz would certainly be an interesting signing under manager Jesse Marsch because Traore is something of an enigma in the Premier League.

Undeniably, he is one of the scariest opponents for many a defender, though his record in the final third is questionable, to say the least.

Having appeared over 170 times in the English top-flight, the Spain international only has a total of 25 goals and assists and his record on-loan to FC Barcelona earlier in the year was hardly inspiring either with just two assists from 16 matches.

But it is his sheer strength and electrifying pace that makes him such a threat, leaving the goalscoring to actual strikers. In some ways, he's a bit similar to Dan James, who himself is a bit of a speed merchant lacking end product but Traore is a far better quality prospect.

Over the course of his career, Traore has been lauded as a "beast" by Barca boss Xavi Hernandez, whilst Old Gold teammate Nathan Collins described him as his toughest opponent ever.

“I think the toughest player must have been Adama Traore. He was a handful. His pace is blistering, he’s a handful and he’s scary to play against."

To add a player of this calibre to Marsch's squad for next to nothing is surely a no-brainer for director of football Victor Orta and whilst he may need to wait to do just that, he shouldn't cool the club's interest in Traore just yet.
