Leeds United haven’t done all that much in the transfer window so far, but one thing they have been proactive with is getting loan moves for their young stars.

Ryan Edmondson and Kun Temenuzhkov have already departed the club on a temporary basis, and there could be a few more U23 stars that follow in their footsteps.

We’ve already heard of Huddersfield’s interest in Robbie Gotts after Carlos Corberan took charge at the John Smith’s Stadium, and Phil Hay believes three others could be headed out alongside Gotts.

What’s been said then?

The journalist answered fans’ questions in his column on The Athletic, and one supporter was quite keen to find out what will happen to some of United’s young stars this season in terms of being loaned out.

The reporter gave a detailed reply, naming four youngsters he thinks could go out on loan for some more gametime.

“Yes, it’s likely that other under-23s will go on loan. Bielsa, in his first two years, was resistant to loans because he thought the youngsters were better off staying and training with him, regardless of whether they were playing," He wrote

“But there’s been a shift in attitude there and players like Robbie Gotts, Alfie McCalmont, Jordan Stevens, Leif Davis — I can see some of them signing new deals and then heading out.”

Should be more

The departure of Corberan has left a real void in how the U23s are going to be handled going forward at Leeds, with it previously being stated that the Spaniard was adept at shadowing Bielsa’s tactics to prepare these lads for the first team.

With Leeds now being a Premier League side with plenty of money to spend it will be a lot harder for these youngsters to break into the side, and although Hay has named four that could leave on loan, we think that there should be even more than that headed out on a temporary basis.

It’s been over a year since fans were clamouring for Mateusz Bogusz to get a first-team chance, and he still hasn’t gotten a decent run in the side, while another player that has been spoken highly of in Bryce Hosannah is getting to the age where a bit of first-team action is paramount to his development.
