Leicester City have reportedly reignited their interest in Thorgan Hazard ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Foxes have been linked with the Belgian midfielder on numerous occasions in the past, both before and after his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
According to Eurosport, the East Midlanders could now consider a move once again should they earn a place in the Champions League next season, and he could be the perfect arrival at the King Power Stadium.
Whilst Hazard’s brother Eden has consistently stolen the limelight, Thorgan has certainly forged a reputation of his own over the last few seasons. In 245 appearances for both Dortmund and former club Borussia Monchengladbach combined, the 28-year-old has scored 56 goals and provided 62 assists.
Coming over the past seven seasons, that has seen Hazard average a huge 16 goal contributions per campaign. Having managed the midfielder in both Gladbach and Dortmund, Lucien Favre has certainly admired his performances closely, describing him as a “huge talent”.
Hazard has racked up a hugely impressive 1.6 key passes per game throughout his career, more than current Leicester winger Marc Albrighton with 1.3, so he certainly seems to be the perfect player to get Leicester frontman Jamie Vardy firing once again.
Despite him being a good fit, it all depends on Leicester’s final finish in the table. It goes without saying that Hazard could also be the perfect player to help the Foxes adapt to the potential demands of Champions League football should they return to the competition.
The 33-cap Belgian, rated at £28.8m by Transfermarkt, has already accumulated plenty of experience in Europe. He has already made 44 appearances in UEFA competitions, so would certainly not have to take time to adapt to that level of football should he arrive in the East Midlands.
Overall, there really does not appear to be a downside in bringing Hazard to the King Power Stadium, so Leicester must make sure they reignite their interest.
