Leicester City could land their ideal transfer target this summer after being linked with a move for Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga.

What's the story?

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the 24-year-old is ready to take the next step in his promising career after impressing for several seasons, attracting the attention of several clubs across the continent.

The report claims a fee of around £34 million would be required to secure Boga's services over the coming months as the race for his signature hots up.

Imagine him and Maddison

Brendan Rodgers' charges secured their maiden FA Cup crown last season, adding some much-deserved silverware to their impressive work under the Northern Irish manager.

However, a final-day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur saw Leicester miss out on a Champions League qualification spot once again, illustrating the improvements that are still required at the King Power Stadium.

Several big names such as Odsonne Edouard and Boubakary Soumare have since been linked with a move to the Midlands outfit as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of another top-four push, but acquiring Boga's service may just prove to be the most important of them all.

The Ivorian has gone from strength to strength since arriving at Sassuolo back in 2018 after making just a single senior appearance throughout his time at Chelsea.

Boga's respectable return of 18 goals and seven assists in 90 appearances for the Serie A outfit may not sound overly impressive, but it's the skilful forward's general play that really catches the eye.

He's become renowned for his direct, relentless dribbling game during his time at the Mapei Stadium, recording a huge 3.2 dribbles per game in 2020/21, the most in the entire Sassuolo squad and over double the amount achieved by his closest teammate.

Excelling at one particular skill has been enough for stars such as Arjen Robben to forge incredible careers from, and Boga is heading down a similar path.

The youngster's surging runs often end with a shot due to his excellent finishing ability and rather suspect crossing technique, but playing with a supremely talented playmaker such as James Maddison could unlock another level to the African's game.

Maddison's vision and passing ability means he has the potential to release Boga into goalscoring positions on a regular basis if he makes the switch to Leicester this summer.

Director of football Jon Rudkin must swoop for magician and provide Rodgers with the type of player he needs to bring Champions League football back to the King Power.

And, in other news...Rodgers can save millions by unleashing rarely-seen 17-assist Leicester City wizard
