An update has emerged on Leicester City and their attempts to bolster their squad on deadline day of the January transfer window...

What's the talk?

Leicester Mercury reporter Jordan Blackwell has confirmed that the Foxes are eyeing up a swoop to sign Jack Harrison from Premier League rivals Leeds.

When asked by a supporter whether or not the club are looking into a deal for the winger, the journalist replied: "City are genuinely interested in adding Harrison to provide competition for Tete and Barnes.

"A right winger was always the priority, so I think it's doubtful that City would be chasing Harrison now if they hadn't managed to get Tete in, but as I've said further down, it was always their intention to bring in two wingers last summer, and so it makes sense that they would still want two wingers now."

Marc Albrighton upgrade

Blackwell has claimed that Brenden Rodgers wants competition for Tete and Harvey Barnes out wide and that is something that current forward Marc Albrighton is unlikely to provide.

The English winger has served the Foxes well over the years but his two goals and three assists in 23 Premier League appearances since the start of last season do not suggest that he is able to deliver on a regular basis for the club in the present.

He has created three 'big chances' for the side in that time and Leicester could land a big upgrade on the 33-year-old veteran by bringing Harrison in before the deadline.

The Whites forward, who was once hailed as being "explosive" by Leeds boss Marsch, has contributed with one goal and four assists, whilst creating six 'big chances', in 17 top-flight outings this season.

His form this term comes after the gem produced 16 goals and nine assists in his first two Premier League campaigns for the Yorkshire-based side - creating 13 'big chances' in that time.

The £50k-per-week attacker, previously of Manchester City, has proven that he can deliver goals and assists on a semi-regular basis in the English top-flight and his track record in the division indicates that Leicester could land an Albrighton upgrade by signing him.

Harrison, 26, is seven years younger than the current Foxes man and boasts a far more impressive return at the top end of the pitch in recent Premier League seasons, which is why Rodgers must now push for this deal to get over the line in the coming hours.
