Leicester are going through a huge injury crisis and virus outbreak that has lead to yet another game being postponed for the Foxes.

However, with a transfer window open, Rodgers could be ready to line up a bid for a player that can add depth to their squad over the next few months.

What's the word?

According to Spanish news outlet, Fichajes, Leicester are interested in signing Norwich midfielder, Todd Cantwell in January, despite Brendan Rodgers admitting that the club won't have much money to spend during the mid-season window.

Cantwell's current contract with Norwich City ends this summer, and the report claims that the 23-year-old has no intention of renewing with the club, meaning he is now free to talk to other clubs that may be interested.

Leicester are not the only team reportedly interested in signing the youngster, with Newcastle United strongly linked to stealing his signature during the January transfer window.

The report from the Spanish news outlet has further claimed that Leicester would be interested in making an offer for Cantwell, but are not willing to match Norwich's alleged valuation of €19m (£15.8m).

Maddison 2.0

The £18m-rated star who was hailed "god-given" by his former youth coach, Gary Cockaday, could be a great signing for Leicester right now as they battle their endless injury problems that have resulted in the side falling to 10th in the Premier League table over the first half of the season.

Rodgers would be buzzing to add the young midfielder into the team, with the opportunity to mould and develop the player to fit the needs and future he will be working to build at the club.

Cantwell has been with Norwich his entire career, and has played a big part in two of their Premier League promotions with 14 goals and 12 assists for the side from his midfield position. Though, he is clearly ready for a new challenge given his reluctance to sign a new contract with his boyhood club.

Leicester could be plotting to turn Cantwell into the second coming of former Norwich midfielder, James Maddison, who was signed by the Foxes from Norwich City on a five-year deal back in 2018. Since then, he gone from strength to strength, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield, as well as earning himself England call-ups during his time at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes star was speculated to make a move after Arsenal were interested in the summer last year, and were reported to make a bid for Maddison, so Rodgers could be preparing to cash in on the 25-year-old if offers were made again this summer, and the club can secure Cantwell as his successor.

Leicester City will likely need to dip into the winter transfer window to patch over their current crisis with many players missing, with their clash at Goodison Park being their third postponement in less than a month, putting the side further behind in their efforts to get into a much more comfortable position in the league.
