Leicester City could finally make a significant foray into the transfer market, if reports are to be believed…

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers’ side will rival Newcastle United for the signature of Mady Camara from Olympiacos.

Both are in the market for a midfielder, with Leicester, in particular, fearing the exit of Youri Tielemans.

The Greek outfit set a price tag on the midfielder of €20m (£17m) back in late June, so it would not represent a huge fee for the relentless 25-year-old.

He could be Leicester’s Makelele

Since the exit of N’Golo Kante, there has been a huge hard-working vacancy in the Leicester midfield.

The French international was integral in their impossible title win and earned plenty of comparisons to another former Chelsea man in ex-Real Madrid star Claude Makelele.

Leicester could now find their own second coming of Kante and therefore, Makelele, with a move for Camara.

Last season the Guinean featured an astounding 45 times, denoting his incredible reliability and presence in midfield.

Makelele made 797 appearances across his illustrious career, further drawing comparison to the always-fit and ever-reliable Camara.

During last season’s Europa League campaign, the 25-year-old machine featured eight times and put up some impressive defensive numbers to support the comparison.

He averaged 1.8 tackles per game, whilst also maintaining an 81% pass accuracy on his way to an average SofaScore rating of 6.96.

Football Talent Scout suggested that whoever was to lure the midfielder would be making an “amazing signing”, claiming his potential could reach a “9/10” rating, and going on to list his key strengths: "pace, passing, vision, tackling, positioning, composure, ability to read the game”.

All of these attributes are things which Leicester’s midfield have lacked, and alongside Tielemans, Camara might have formed one of the Premier League’s better midfield partnerships if given the chance.

Whether he is to move to the King Power Stadium, or if Tielemans is to exit, we may never get to see the link-up.

Regardless, Leicester should swoop for this cut-price midfielder who shares many pleasing similarities with a man who shaped his own role in football, a position which is so sought after today.
