It’s safe to say that Liverpool’s 2022 as a whole has gone from one extreme to the next this year, and it has been a rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns for the Anfield faithful.

Jurgen Klopp completed the set with his squad in the seventh year of his reign on Merseyside picking up both domestic trophies to earn the titles of Carabao Cup and FA Cup winners in the 2021/22 season.

In the Premier League, the Reds caught up with the league leaders Manchester City over the second half of the campaign to take them down to the final minutes of the final day, losing out again on being crowned title winners with only minutes left to play.

A similar fate the Merseyside giants were dealt on the European stage too, with an incredible campaign in the Champions League - only losing out in Paris to Real Madrid during the final in May.

In the summer, Liverpool - as we knew it under Klopp’s reign - changed forever when Sadio Mane made the shock move to Bayern Munich, but supporters were compensated with the long-awaited extension of Mohammed Salah’s contract and the club record-breaking deal to sign Benfica’s Darwin Nunez.

After such a competitive and victorious season for the Reds, nobody could have predicted in the summer what was to come when the 2022/23 season kicked off in August.

Liverpool have suffered their worst start to a season in a decade and are currently sixth in the Premier League after a string of inconsistent performances with the sense of an identity crisis looming over Anfield.

Now as the year comes to an end and Klopp’s side return to action after the World Cup break - nobody could write what could happen next when the ever-unpredictable Liverpool challenge to improve in the remainder of their campaign.

With the FA Cup, Champions League and Carabao Cup - at the very least - still in sight, can Klopp orchestrate another fairytale?
