Liverpool breezed to a more than convincing victory against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday after hitting them for five. Despite the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho, the Reds looked clinical as ever. Diogo Jota gave yet another prolific display, bagging his first Liverpool hat-trick after starting against the Italians.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were also on song for the Merseyside outfit, who now top their UCL group by a huge five points. One man who also impressed but slipped a little under the radar was teenager Curtis Jones, who started the match in midfield.

Curtis Jones continues to shine for Liverpool

In what he hopes will be a similar success story to the now £99million-valued Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jones continues to graft his way to becoming a regular start under Jurgen Klopp.

The manager handed him a start against Atalanta alongside Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum. Liverpool's rising star quietly went about his usual business and made setting up the attack look effortless. Overshadowed by five superb goals, Jones was solid in the middle of the park yet again.

According to Sofascore, the 19-year-old boasted an impressive 93% passing accuracy and was successful in 100% of his long balls. He also did well to set up Salah's goal and he created a further big goalscoring opportunity which only highlights his eye for creativity in the engine room.

Additionally, his defensive contributions were also solid. The midfielder put in one tackle, one interception and one clearance, doing well to track back and help out when necessary.

Jones is certainly one that Klopp will be eyeing for the future and he is already making plans around him. In a recent interview, he highlighted that the young Scouser is someone that the club are going to "have a lot of fun" with in the future (via BBC Sport).

He similarly branded Jones as an "exceptional talent" following his brace against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup. His presence on the pitch barely ever goes undetected and it will be a huge confidence booster knowing that Klopp has faith in his ability moving forward.
