According to AS, Liverpool could attempt to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez during this summer’s transfer window.
Indeed, the Reds are said to be on the lookout for a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who only has little over 12 months left to run on his contract at Anfield and could leave the European champions ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
According to AS, Gimenez, alongside RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, is under consideration.
However, not too many of the Liverpool fans want the Uruguay international.
He has 120 million release clause or something

Gimenez is too injury prone. Has missed 20+ games every season for the past few years

That is not an opinion shared across the board, though, as some of the club’s supporters have said that they would welcome the Atletico ace.
Hell yeah. We need a solid defender when Klopp wants to rotate

Gimenez, who has been capped on 58 occasions by Uruguay, joined Atletico from Danubio in 2013 and has made 180 appearances for the club in all competitions.
The South American has only made 16 appearances for Diego Simeone’s during the 2019/20 campaign, though, having struggled with injury.
