Despite picking up their first Premier League defeat of the season at the weekend with a 3-2 loss against West Ham United, Liverpool have not had a terrible start to the season by any means, especially when it comes to scoring goals with the Reds having managed to find the back of the net on 31 occasions across 11 games, more than any other top-flight side.

Even though they have been rather potent in front of goal, rumours linking the Merseyside club with a transfer move Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappe have been going strong for a significant period of time, even though the Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid over the summer too.

One recent update, however, could now be a big clue as to where Mbappe's next destination lies.

What's the latest?

It has recently been reported by El Nacional (via The Mirror) that Mbappe would apparently prefer to play under Reds manager Jurgen Klopp rather than current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.

With this in mind and the fact that Mbappe's current contract at PSG is set to expire at the end of June, we feel that this should spring FSG into action to try and bring the winger to Anfield in the summer instead of joining the Spanish club on a free transfer.

Dream Salah heir

The 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £144m according to Transfermarkt, has managed to rack up 139 goals in 187 games for Mauricio Pochettino's side across all competitions, consequently being described as their "golden boy" by fellow PSG teammate Neymar.

As a result, it shouldn't really take much convincing on Mbappe's part that he'd be an absolute dream transfer for the Merseyside club if they managed to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

With his impeccable goalscoring in mind and his age, we feel that the Frenchman could be an ideal long-term heir for current Reds winger Mohamed Salah given his impressive goalscoring record in a Liverpool shirt and the fact that his current contract is set to expire in 2023. The Egyptian has found the net on 15 occasions in as many games and losing a player like that would undoubtedly hurt the club.

Yet, in the dazzling World Cup winner, they'd have a player capable of not only succeeding Salah but potentially even usurping his record in English football.

Looking ahead to the summer, if Mbappe would rather play for Klopp ahead of Ancelotti, FSG should use this to their advantage to try and convince him to join Liverpool. The power he could provide Liverpool with in attack is something worth marvelling over.
