Liverpool have hit the target more often than not on the transfer front under the reign of Jurgen Klopp, and despite the recent troubles that plague the Merseyside outfit, the deal to bring the prodigious Harvey Elliott to Anfield remains a major coup.

This season, the Reds' stability and vigour has spluttered to a halt after many years of dazzling feats under Klopp's wing, and the midfield in particular has been illuminated as an area requiring some serious investment.

The likes of Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract at the end of the season, while captain Jordan Henderson and midfield anchor Fabinho, 32 and 29 respectively, have failed to replicate the past standards that have been so integral to the system at Anfield.

Fresh faces will almost certainly grace the fold come the summer, combatting the woes that currently have Liverpool languishing in seventh place in the Premier League, but Elliott will certainly retain a starring role in the system over the coming years, with the teenager blossoming into a devastating force in English football.

How much is Harvey Elliott worth now?

In 2019, Elliott was signed from Fulham in a deal worth up to £4m, with the two clubs initially agreeing a compensation fee to allow the precocious talent to switch allegiances.

And while last season was blighted by a serious ankle injury, suffered against Leeds United, he has returned to make his mark on the Reds outfit, producing some standout moments amid the murkiness of Liverpool's current campaign.

In total, Elliott has made 56 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, scoring six goals and providing three assists, with six of his nine direct contributions coming this term, including two goals in the Champions League.

And as per FBref, he ranks among the top 17% of midfielders in Europe's top five leagues for rate of goals, 7% for shot-creating actions, 4% for progressive carries and 2% for progressive passes received, illustrating his dynamic presence and transitional nature, two elements that go in tandem with Klopp's philosophy.

Now valued at £53m by CIES Football Observatory, the £46k-per-week phenom has already skyrocketed from the fee that Liverpool parted with to secure his signature and given he is still in his teenage years, this value might astronomically increase all the further.

His standout performances for Liverpool were even likened to that of David Beckham's for Manchester United by European football expert Andy Brassell, who said: “The fact that Harvey Elliott stands out now, of course it’s a lot to do with his excellent form, but it’s also because he reminds me of David Beckham playing in the midfield of the melted Galacticos in 2003/04.

"He’s just so much faster than everyone else. Beckham was like a flying ant in a forest of sloths really."

Should Liverpool decide to cash in on the former Queens Park Rangers youth, they would receive a massive surge in price for a player signed for peanuts, although this is highly unlikely, given the faith bestowed in the 19-year-old and Klopp's personal affection - having dubbed him "special" - for his footballing ability.

As it is, the Anfield outfit will continue to wield one of European football's brightest young gems, and as the side ascends from the dirt, Elliott will be at the centre of it, knowing the club struck gold by acquiring his signature.
